Kundalini Yoga is for the householder. This means that we embrace worldly life. We do not run away from it. Everyone who has a family knows and understands that money is required. Prosperity is required. Not having what you need can be painful and difficult.
Yogi Bhajan talked about prosperity in a way that was very different from our typical business models, or even our typical “New Age” models. According to Yogi Bhajan, prosperity is the state where you are YOU. As you vibrate your Self, everything you need shall come to you. Hassling and being clever are not necessary. Be your Self, and Mother Nature will serve you.
“Prosperity doesn’t mean that you will have wealth, health and happiness. The best way to explain prosperity is to say it is like when a rosebud flowers and opens up, and it shares its fragrance. That’s the moment, which lasts a few days, when a rose flower is prosperous.
When a man or woman is prosperous, it is the fragrance of security, grace, depth, character, and truthfulness that a person can share. Like a candle emits light, a human emits prosperity.”
–Yogi Bhajan, 12/26/97 from Success and the Spirit: An Aquarian Path to Prosperity.
In the practice of Kundalini Yoga, we recognize that we are part of creation. Creation operates on the principle of flowering. The sun gives. The Earth gives. The rain gives. Then, the plants flower. The food is grown. Fruits ripen. From that cycle, consciousness evolves in so many forms on the Earth.
True prosperity does not come from accumulating as many earthly possessions as possible. True prosperity happens when our own being comes into a state of flowering. Each of us has something unique to share. When we walk the path of our soul’s calling, known as destiny, that is prosperity.
Being prosperous creates contentment, ease in giving, and a trust in the Universal flow. It does not seek to protect itself from challenges, but rather, it embraces challenge as an opportunity for growth.
Over the years, Yogi Bhajan gave many different kriyas and meditations to activate the human capacity to expand, and to develop prosperity consciousness. Expansion and prosperity are completely connected with the destiny of the soul. Everything we need to complete our soul’s purpose is pre-arranged and waiting for us to receive it.
Do you feel insecure about money? Do you find yourself chasing opportunities? Or dreaming about winning the lottery? Have you ever experienced the hand of the Divine working on your behalf? When you look back over your life, what situations have turned out to be the most rewarding to you – on all levels?
We hope this month’s theme, Open the Doors to Prosperity, will give you an opportunity to think about money, security, and your life’s purpose in new and expansive ways.
